Dear Yuletide Friend

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Currently a placeholder but by the end of Friday (2/11/2012) it will be a full and complete letter.

It is complete!

Pleasure to meet you, and I hope you have a fantastic Yuletide. This letter won't be overly long, but hopefully it'll hit everything you need to know, and I'm happy to answer any questions forwarded onto me. First of all I know it's a little bit of a tradition to stalk your recipient's journal, and if you've glanced through mine you may well be on your knees screaming out to a cruel God/Goddess/empty universe and asking why you got someone who only seems to have written porn. Let me reassure you. I do write vaguely kinky and sexy things, but my enjoyment of stories is not tied to the quantity and type of sex within them. I will be just as happy if not more so with quiet gen pieces without even a kiss, as I would be with full on pairing/sex. So write whatever rating or type of story you'd like. This is about the story you'd like to tell in the fandom you've been assigned to.

Second. Squicks/Triggers are almost non-existent for me, though I would ask that you don't write non-con, eye injury or D/s.

General Likes: I'm very very fond of friendship and closeness between characters whether sexually or not, I'm a big fan of tough people doing hard things, of humour and banter, of mentally strong characters who battle through against all odds, of love that isn't schmoopy or fluffy, of plot, of character pieces, I like brittleness which isn't fragility, love/friendship that is prized above everything else, of sacrifices, fighting and ambition.

Man on Fire (Pita Martin Ramos, John W. Creasy, Paul Rayburn)

This film tears at my heart strings and I just want more of the same. More of Creasy and Pita being so fond of each other in the time they have, or Creasy backstory (exactly what happened to him,) or a development of that quiet subtle friendship between Paul and Creasy, what have they been through together? The only thing I'd prefer not to see is pairing fic, and certainly nothing with Pita. More prompts etc in my letter.

I did not expect to like this film as much as I did, but it really tore at me. I would be happy with anything for it truly, though as mentioned, please no pairing of Pita (unless she is looking back on events when she's older or something.) I liked the film's rather quiet depiction of friendship, and I adore odd couple style friendships in the first place! I've left a few prompts below, but please ignore anything you like and write what you fancy. I'm cool with the violence portrayed in the film, and I'm fine with the unhappy ending, though if you'd like to fix it, I would also be incredibly happy.

- Pita lives, grows up and is happy. But there is always a memory and an ache where Creasy should be, and sometimes she doesn't want to think about it.
- Creasy did terrible things, things that drove him to drink. The only good thing to come out of that time was his friendship with Paul. How did they meet? Did one of them save the other one's life? Anything between them that explores their friendship would be ace
- Paul watches over Pita and her mother when Creasy is gone for his sake.

History Boys (2006) Dakin and Irwin

Anything featuring these two would be grand! I'm game for most things including an unhappy ending, but the pair of them being imperfect foils for each other fills me with glee. There's something sharp edged and fragile about them, and I love that quality and would be happy to see more of it. More prompts in letter.

I love these two together. Slash would be perfect but if your face did a D: at the thought of that, then a moment of gen between them would be terrific as well. I'm particularly interested in how their edges could fit together and how the events of the film change and shape them. There's a lot unspoken there, and I'd like to hear some of it. In particular I'm a fan of the bantery portion of their relationship, that sense of discovery and fun with Dakin trying so hard to keep up, and Irwin not even knowing what he's doing. I've included a few prompts, but please for all of love ignore them if you have an idea you really want!

- Irwin bumps into Dakin seven years later at a cocktail party, meeting through mutual friends in London. There's still loose ends between them, and maybe it ends in a shouting match, or sex, or an agreement to never meet again. Whatever way.
- Dakin meets Irwin in Blackwells (Oxford bookshop) and they have awkward painfully English conversation about the weather.
- Dakin went on the bike instead of Irwin, and the results changed both of their lives
- Dakin visited Irwin in hospital, and they actually talked about what had happened.

Arthurian Mythology, Guinevere, Arthur and Lancelot

I know this one is such a classic that it might be difficult to find a new take on it, but I promise I will be happy with anything that has these three in it. A moment of happiness between them, an introspective piece from one of their POVs, the aching loss of Arthur when Lancelot and Guinevere betray him. All of it would be lovely. More prompts in letter.

These three were my baby OT3. Even as a child my love of them was tainted by 'oh if only.' I would completely love them together in some way in the fic (whether romantically, sexually or just friendly,) just as long as it takes place in one of the moments where there is love shared between all three. I'm cool with any combination of pairings here, but if you go for Arthur/Lancelot please please don't forget Guinevere- they love her very much and I can't imagine they wouldn't tell her. The great things about the mythos is a) there's so much, and b) there is so much essentially human feeling in it. I am fine with unhappy fic, where things inevitably crumble and fall apart, but where there was once happiness. Teasing, sharing, friendly adventures, dark recollections from the end of all things, it's all good. I am also v happy with fic that focuses on one person rather than all three, character studies, thoughts, etc are all fantastic. I've added a few prompts if you'd like something to spark off- please ignore if not!

- Arthur loves them both so much it hurts, and he'll ignore what they do as long as they'll let him, but he can't help looking at them wistfully.
- It's a bright May morning, and all three of them are on a ramble/picnic/horse-ride, fun, frolics and possibly fumblings occur.
- Lancelot is his king's faithful servant, and his queen's lover. Some days that switches around.
- In the convent Guinevere remembers the end of all things, and seeks a way to change the course of events.

If right now dear author you want to slap me (too much detail, too little, poor prompts etc) I deeply apologise. All details are optional, and I thoroughly hope you have a fantastic Yuletide!
