I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to manage to participate this year though I'll definitely sign up to pinch hit. I love Sutcliff, I love writing Sutcliff stuff but it's a really really difficult style to do justice too. But if anyone out there fancies it, they totally should! And if you haven't read any of the books (Eagle of the Ninth or any of the others) then you definitely should, and then chat with me about them! Just indulge my palpable and embarrassingly obvious fondness for brotherly/sisterly bonds of any type.

I doubt that I could write Sutcliff fic, seeing how monofandomous and not even productive in one fandom I am, but I loved her books. The Shield Ring was my favorite, but I did enjoy Eagle of the Ninth as well. I never did see the movie, though.

The books are stunning, and The Shield Ring is one of my favourites as well (though The Lantern Bearers and Sword at Sunset take the crown for me personally.) The Eagle movie was...very unlike the book and managed to cut out Cottia entirely. The best way to describe it is as a slave-au fanfic complete with role-reversal. It's still a decent watch though if only for the scenery.

I'm very happy it has its own exchange!
